Monday Musings, Volume 23

Monday Musings

Hello, lovelies. Happy Monday! Hope your day is going well. I haven’t done a Monday Musing for the past two weeks. I had thought about getting away with them but then I got feedback that a lot of you really enjoy reading them so here I am!

Let’s Catch-Up

  1. I changed up the blog design a little last week. I know, I know. I feel like I’m always saying that but as much as I love black I just couldn’t convince myself to stick with the last color scheme. It was just too dark. So there is a new logo and a few of you made comments about it being hard to distinguish the highlighted links so I fixed that as well. Right now I’m pretty damn content with how things look so hopefully it will be awhile before I do any more change-ups.
  2. I added Santa’s Workshop to the navigation bar. You can click on it to see all of the gift guides for the season. As I make new ones I will keep adding them to the shop so that they are easy to find!
  3. I don’t know about you but I’m so over the curated polished looks on Instagram. I rarely ever post because I get so overwhelmed trying to set up an aesthetic. So starting this week I’m going to be posting real life. Messy kitchens, hockey games, drunk nights out. If it’s not what you’re looking for then that is fine but I just want it to be an honest place for you to get to know me. Sound good?

WEEKEND RECAP:

Let’s see. Friday Eddie took me to finally get my hair cut for the first time in like three years. If you follow me on Instagram and watch my stories then on Friday you got a sneak peak of my hair which was 2.5 feet long. Ahh. My cut ended up being about 8 inches shorter than I asked for so I was sort of pissed about that but there’s nothing I can really do. We ended up thinning out my hair out a lot as well because it’s so thick.  Honestly, I feel like a brand new person. After I got my hair transformation Eddie took me out to buy a few new outfits for the cold weather that’s creeping in and then we headed out for dinner and drinks.

Saturday I woke up at 8 am because I have built an internal alarm clock. Eddie and I had plans with a friend of his from work but all of us ended up being hung over and so day drinking was just out of the question and none of us really wanted to even leave the house so Eddie and I lounged around and made fajitas at home. Around 6 o’clock we got ready and met my sister for food and drinks before heading to my nephew’s hockey game. They ended up losing the game but it was still fun to see him. After our aunt and uncle duties, we headed out for more drinks before heading to bed so we could wake up at dawn for Devin’s hockey tournament on Sunday.

I didn’t stumble to bed until almost 2 am on Saturday night so waking up at 6:30 am was not so fun. I just remember waking up thinking “that little shit better appreciate that we showed up”. I’m such a great aunt. Ha. But in all seriousness, I spent like 10 minutes waking Eddie up over and over again and we threw on some clothes and made the 40-minute drive out to god knows where to watch hockey. They won their first game by 3 points which meant that they were advancing to the next rounds later that afternoon. To kill time 12 of us got together and headed to a bar up the street for brunch and mimosas. 11:50 rolled around and it was time for game two which they again won and my nephew got so excited he went around the rink fist bumping everyone. Ha. The extremely early day drinking led to me having a terrible headache so I went home and slept for like four hours and then did absolutely nothing with the rest of my night other than watching the office and eat salsa and guacamole for dinner. #adultingfail

CURRENT THOUGHTS:

Feeling: It is December and it hasn’t snowed yet in Minneapolis. I mean we’ve had flurries but nothing has stuck yet. Last year we had a snowball fight on Thanksgiving and now it looks like they’re a possibility we won’t even have snow for Christmas this year and I’m super bummed about it.

Trying: I want Eddie and I to go on more dates and I really want to get out of the house more during the week. My goal this month will be to make sure we go on 1-2 dates nights Monday-Friday. Eddie will be all for it but I prefer pajamas so I’ll more than likely be the reason this doesn’t happen!

It’s wild to me that it not having snowed yet in MN is unusual haha. We are usually pretty surprised to get snow in December in VA; it usually comes between the middle of January-end of March.
