I actually got this post out on time this week people. Be proud of me, very proud!
THINGS I’M READING AROUND THE WEB:
Edward and I are coming up on five years together and it’s not a huge hurdle but I’m pretty proud of us. Of course, we plan on being together for 60 more years but sometimes I find myself wondering if we’re doing things right. Is there something more we could be doing to build our bond with one another? So when I read Joanna’s article about how she and her husband have never gone to bed together at the same time I felt relieved. Edward is a morning person, hell he’s an all day person and I’m a night owl. All he wants is for me to come to bed with him at the same time and all I can think is “but I have another episode in me” or “I only have 20 pages till I’m done with this book.” Basically, what I’m trying to say is it’s good to know that everyone doesn’t have everything figured out but their relationships are still successful.
I read Blair’s article 8 Simple Tips For Clear, Glowy Skin. She talks about her struggle with acne and oily skin just like I deal with. I don’t think my skin still acts up as much as her and I really only have to deal with the oily aspect these days… but she talked about a few steps she took to clear up her skin and how to make it look more radiant. One thing that she mentioned that caught my eye was that she’s added collagen to her daily routine. I’m not completely sold yet but it’s something I’m definitely looking into. If you have any experience with it I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
I spent three glorious days with my sister and as of right now I have an epic hangover and honestly do not know how I have the energy to get this post out.
My sister didn’t get to my house until around 10:30 p.m. on Friday so we just stayed in and had some food and watched a movie together before heading to bed. It wasn’t an epic night but we were well rested and able to get up and going Saturday morning. We spent a good portion of our day at a spa getting our nails done and massages before heading home and getting ready to go out for the evening. Lake Como held a show called Mortified and it was absolutely hilarious. “Mortified is a comic excavation of teen angst artifacts (journals, poems, letters, lyrics, home movies, schoolwork) as shared by their original authors — in front of total strangers!” After the show, my sister whisked me off to dinner at 112 Eatery. It’s an awesome 5-star eclectic restaurant in downtown Minneapolis. We let our waitress pick out our menu and bring us a few signature pieces that she thought we’d enjoyed. The scallops with mushrooms were to die for, I will go back just to get those scallops again. The steak tartare didn’t end up sitting well with either of us, but overall we didn’t let it ruin the evening.
Sunday morning we woke up and went to Lush for bottomless mimosas and brunch. Surprisingly, that’s not what caused the hangover… that happened later in the afternoon when we found ourself on Seven’s rooftop bar where we proceeded to drink for I don’t know… six hours. We knew there was no way that we were going to be driving home so when Eddie got into town I sent him to pick up my sister’s boyfriends and they met us for a few drinks and made sure we got home safely. I honestly don’t remember leaving the restaurant but Eddie is filling me in on our epic shit show of an evening. Basically, keys were lost, arguments were had and bruises were made from drunken falls. Better yet… my sister’s keys were lost, then the argument started about her constantly losing everything… and then she fell down several times. But do not fear I came out of the evening unscathed, just a little hangover! We’re probably both going to hold off on drinking for awhile but we were both excited to be able to spend so much time together just the two of us. She spoiled me this weekend and I’ll be forever grateful.
Reading: This week I will be starting a new monthly series called Turning Pages. It will feature the books I read for the months and my take on them and my personal ratings. I am excited to share with you some of my favorite books and hear your opinions on books that you have read as well. Be on the look out for the article later this week.
Playing: Surprisingly I’ve really gotten into this summer heat and being outside. Edward and I do not always want to leave the house to have a good time. Therefore, we broke down and bought two lounge chairs and an umbrella for outside, but we didn’t stop there. We also invested in a few outdoor games and picked up cornhole, a large outside Jenga set and a set of dice so that we can come up with our own games.
