Well, A Modern Girl’s Travels (aka… me) finally hired an intern. I have been mentioning for the past two months how I was needing to bring another being to the entity that is this crazy blogging space. I have finally done that.
I wanted to take the time to introduce her because you will start seeing her influences around A Modern Girl’s Travels and I wanted you to be able to take the time and get to know her.
Introducing: Maddie Mercer….

What jobs will you be contributing to A Modern Girl’s Travels?
For my internship with A Modern Girl’s Travels, I will be assisting in running social media channels such as Pinterest, Instagram, and Facebook. I also have the great opportunity to write articles once a week, contribute photos to the blog and social media channels, and collaborate with Alexandria on new ideas for the blog. I’m very excited about all of it and am happy to be a part of this community!
Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
I don’t have an extremely clear plan for the next five years, but my hopes are that I will have an adorable pug named Junior and that I’ll be married to my wonderful boyfriend. I hope I will have traveled frequently and that my passport is absolutely full of stamps. I envision myself at a job like this one, which is why I applied for the internship. I want to be able to expand creatively through writing and photography, and I would like to work for a company who’s primary focus is helping others.
What brings you the most happiness in life?
My boyfriend, my family, and my dog keep my world spinning, but I am also a huge fan of beautiful writing, crisp fall days, and the mountains.
What are some of your creative outlets and hobbies?
My passions are writing, photography and traveling. Anytime I can engage in those activities I am really happy. Other hobbies include exercising, kayaking and hiking. I’m trying to live a life focused on living fully and being healthy, so any hobbies that align with that lifestyle I tend to enjoy.
What book has had the most influence on your life?
I would have to say it’s between two books: The Picture of Dorian Gray (by Oscar Wilde) and The Perks of Being a Wallflower (by Stephen Chbosky). I’m really fascinated by people– what they’re thinking, what motivates decisions, etc., and both of these books do an incredible job of explaining natural human emotions through really complex characters. I definitely recommend both to everyone.
