Aveda has always been one of my favorite hair products. The salon I used for 7 years in Atlanta sold nothing but Aveda. Recently, I partnered up with Aveda to try out some of their most popular products at the moment. I was so excited to see what they had to offer and I will go ahead and let you know that they did not disappoint. I broke down each product into different categories and let you know my honest opinion so take a look and let me know if you’ve ever used any of Aveda’s products before.
Aveda Volumizing Tonic and Styling Foam
First off is the thickening tonic, for $22 dollars you get a 3.4 oz bottle of their infamous tonic. The price is a bit steep if you were to use it several times a week but the reviews make it sound like it is worth it. I already have extremely thick hair so I had my sister try it out. She has rather fine hair and she said that she enjoyed the spray. The first time she used the spray she didn’t really put it on her roots so she wanted to give it another try. She said overall the product is nice and comparable to Bombshell’s Blowout Spray.
While she was at it I also had her go ahead and try out the styling foam Phomollient. It’s meant to add weightless volume to fine and medium hair. Since I have thick hair I figured she would get better results. It has a minty smell to it and I wanted to keep it for myself just for that reason. Imagine using it on a date night and Eddie leaning over to give me a kiss and I smell like mint. I would be a total babe, but I’m not stingy so I let her keep it.
However, I did borrow it to use on a night out when my hair was being particularly difficult to style and I decided to be bold and try a whole new do. My hair is almost the same length link of Julia from Gal Meets Glam so I went bold and tried out her twisted knot tutorial. I used the styling foam to help add volume to my roots. Whenever I pull back my hair it gets pretty flat on top and I hate it.
I will have to say that I was surprised how well it worked for my thick hair but then again the thickness is in the body of my hair and not at my roots. Oh, and by the way… I did get a nice kiss and a wink from Eddie when he smelt my minty freshness that evening.
The damage remedy, oh you guys it is amazing. I use it every time I wash my hair, it’s lightweight but extremely effective! I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it before but I’ve been growing my hair out to donate to Locks For Love and I haven’t been getting cut as much as usual. The Aveda damage remedy has been a lifesaver on for my dead ends.
Aveda Smooth Infusion and Air Control Hairspray
I have been spending a lot of time out on the water this summer and I always come home with fizzy, sweaty crazy hair. So when Aveda sent me their Smooth Infusion style prep I put it to the ultimate test. My family and I had a four-hour kayaking trip planned so I used the style prep smoother on my hair that morning after my shower. It is meant to defend against humidity for up to 12 hours and I can honestly say I could tell a big difference in my hair once the day was over. I didn’t have this huge, tangely frizzy braid once my day was over. Unfortunately, I don’t have a picture from that day so you’ll just have to take my word for it.
The next product I was impressed with the way their Air Control spray. I knew that after our canoeing adventure I wouldn’t have time for a full shower and to wash my hair before our dinner plans in the city that night. So I used some dry shampoo put my hair up in a cute bun (tutorial here) and used their light hold hairspray to help spray down all my crazy fly aways. I love light weight hairspray, nothing is worse than having crispy looking hair from heavy products!
Those two products both have 5 stars for me and will be my go to in the summer months to help me fight off humidity!
I would have to say that so far my favorite product has been the Aveda Hand Cream. I have always had notoriously soft skin until this year. I attribute that to moving from a warmer wet climate in the south to a cold dry climate in the north. This past winter I had terribly dry flaky hands and it was not only embarrassing it was quite painful.
I tried so many other hand creams but they all had a fragrance in them that caused my skin to burn. So I decided to go fragrance-free but every product I tried had to be used multiple times a day or I wouldn’t see any results. I’ve been using Aveda’s hand cream every few days for a couple of weeks now and I am in love. It’s silky but lightweight and it gives your skin a smooth feeling. After you put it on your skin sort of feels refreshed and hydrated. I know that might sound silly but I think this might be my favorite product ever. It will definitely be a staple in our house from this point forward and I’m excited to try it out this winter. If you have dry hands I know this will do wonders for you!
It’s a calming aromatic for your body, bath, and scalp. I’m really into aroma therapy these days so I wanted to see what all this product could do for me. First I used it in a warm bath, it had been a long week and my weekend had been pretty jam packed with long hours of outdoor activity and I was just feeling a little achy so I figured it would be the best time to give this product a run for its money. I can’t completely put my finger on the smell but it reminds me of the smell of getting a nice message. You know the oils they rub on you. It was very therapeutic and my skin was so silky after my bath.
I loved it so much that every once in awhile when I want to feel relaxed and calm or before a nice night out I rub some on my temples and pressure points throughout my body. It does say that it can be used on the scalp as well, I haven’t tried it out yet just because my hair is naturally oily but the product might be good for those days that I workout back to back and my scalp become tender from all the moisture. Now all I have to do is find a good hiding place so Eddie doesn’t use it all on himself… yes, my husband loves baths. Judge him if you must.
