Advice on How To Have A More Meaningful Day

This post was sponsored by Reebok as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.

Life is hectic and days can pass you by. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve woken up and don’t even know how it could possibly be Friday and I wonder where the time has gone and what I have really accomplished for the week. I didn’t want life passing me by so I realized it was time to live each day more meaningful. Life shouldn’t always be about your to-do list and work, it should be about finding joy and contentment. At least, that’s my opinion.

I know what you’re thinking. I’d love to have time for myself, but I’m not a miracle worker. I can’t add more time to my days. So how am I suppose to focused my busy schedule? Well, my advice is to do it 20 minutes at a time. Studies show that adults can only stay focused on one task completely for 20 minutes before their brains start to wander and they go off  task.

So follow me and find out five ways that you can make time for yourself each and every day!

Read 30 pages a day of your current book (or a favorite).

Is it just me or do you feel more accomplished when you’ve spent a few minutes reading a new book? It doesn’t matter how long you escape into another world, just make sure you’re doing it a little every day. Pick up a new book you’ve been dying to read and get through it 30 pages at a time.

Do a media detox for an hour.

I know. I know. It’s asking a lot, especially in this day and age and plus, I already said you can only really stay focused for 20 minutes. So I’ll compromise.. spend 20 minutes with yourself but strive for an hour. Why, well this study show that on average we look at our phone 46 times a day and this number is actually higher with millennials who check their phone between 74-50 times a day!! That’s crazy, right?

I myself struggle with detaching from social media, but it’s my job so that makes it all the harder. However, I also was suffering from burnout all the time and realized I was missing out on what was happing around me. Life was passing me by and I was more tuned into strangers lives than my own. Solution? Spend an hour with your thoughts. You’ll learn a lot about yourself. Spend an hour cooking, or going on a walk, soak in the tub. I don’t care, just get away from everything and be alone with yourself for awhile.

Try to squeeze in 20 minutes of exercise a day!

Exercise is a wonderful way to relieve stress, everyone knows that! So get up and go on a walk, or do some stretches or yoga. No matter the activity just make sure that you push yourself during those 20 minutes. You may even find that you are enjoying your workout and you will push yourself for another 10 minutes or so. The Reebok CloudRide DMX has unique, patented, moving air technology that has been popular in other Reebok “DMX” products in the past.

During your workouts, you should use Reebok CloudRide DMX shoes. They’re extremely comfortable (seriously). They’re a great pair of walking shoe that is lightweight with flexible sole providing long-lasting comfort. The air in the sole is unique as most shoes have foam. They have a cloud-like comfort and if you don’t enjoy them then you can get your money back if you’re not satisfied! They also offer great support, especially for people like me who have had previous ankle and leg injury. Pick your pair up today at select stores or online today. They’re available in black and white and run true to size.

Practice an old hobby or try something new.

Do you love to do calligraphy or playing basketball, or have you always wanted to learn a second language? Well, you can do all of these things. Just carve that 20 minute time out of your day when you wake up, or on your lunch break, or after dinner. I promise that as you start to make this time for yourself you will realize that you are utilizing your days better. Not only that, but you will realize that carving out that 20 minutes wasn’t as hard as you thought it would be.

Stick to a strict bedtime routine.

I’m not saying go to bed by 9 pm or anything I’m just saying…. nothing is better than having a schedule, right? Make a routine and stick to it. Every night before bed listen to one of your favorite songs, have a cup of sleepy time tea and take your journal to bed to and write down your thought from the day. No matter what your routine regimen is I can guarantee that it will start to be one of the best parts of your day and a time that you will look forward too.

What do you do to lead a meaningful day?

Extremely important to do something for yourself everyday and I could and would enjoy every suggestion you have given.

These are really great tips. I’ve been wanting to read more and aiming to read 30 pages a day sounds reasonable. I just started a new workout DVD that’s 35 minutes long and it was kind of hard to make the time for it, but I finally accepted that the only way I’ll do it daily it to just do it whenever I have the time whether it’s at 8p.m. or 10a.m. depending on my schedule that day.

One thing that I’ve been doing lately is sitting down to go over my planner in the morning and then again in the evening to schedule in time to each task that needs to get done that day.

These are all such great ideas! I need to make more time for reading in my day. I always feel better when I do.

Love this post! We should really take more time fore ourselves. Everyday I hear from my fellow students that they don’t have time for themselves and some of them aren’t very happy. Nobody HAS time, you have to TAKE the time to do things.
I’m going to try the social media detox 😉

Amy Brazier

I love this! Thanks for the pointers & encouragement!

Great tips! I try so hard to break things down into short increments but find myself getting “caught up” into something and the time flies by and before I know it I haven’t got accomplished what I wanted to. ha ha

I have a very happy life with travel, reading, great movies and TV, a great husband and a great dog. I have no problems having a meaningful life.

These tips are gold! Thank you for sharing. I’m trying to get in more of a habit of pleasure reading. I tend to get home from work and want to zonk out and watch mindless tv :/

I do the media detox + daily exercise. Definitely works!!

These are great reminders. I love the note on reading. I usually sit down for a while and read, but lately I’ve been trying to sneak in a few pages here and there and it provides a little escape.

Your tips are so simple but so powerful in really making it a good, meaningful day.

I try to do a little bit of knitting everyday and 30 minutes of reading. That helps me decompress and make the end of my day a little bit.
